Afternoon in Europe 2020

    This concert was held at Hutt Valley High School.  We were very fortunate to have        this venue where we could bring in the Steinway piano, usually at The Little Theatre, 
    for the Grieg Piano Concerto. 

 Mark welcomed the audience before a lively performance of Verdi's "Nabucco Overture" 

Our soloist Benjamin Carter playing Dvorak's "Rondo in D minor". Benjamin was the winner of the HVO Cup at the Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competition in 2019. As part of the prize, he was able to perform with Hutt Valley Orchestra.

  

Benjamin also gave an impressive performance of the first movement of Grieg's Piano Concerto followed by a moving encore -"The Lark": Glinka transcribed by Balakirev.  

The packed hall then delighted in a further encore from our talented pianist - "The Tom and Jerry Show": Heromi Uehara.    An end to a much enjoyed concert to finish 2020.
