Orchestra to perform Mahler's 1st

The workshop this year will again be joined by players of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) who will tutor the individual sections of the orchestra.

The Symphony

This year it is Mahler’s First Symphony. You can read up about it in the registration brochure. After a performance in Germany, Mahler wrote to a friend, “My Symphony was received with furious opposition by some and with wholehearted approval by others". Today, it is seen as one of the greatest symphonies ever composed.
